What this site keeps, and why
Open Daily in NYC is an independent game made by Ruiqi Zhou. This page covers opendaily.nyc. If you have a question or want something changed or deleted, email jayzhofen@gmail.com.
If you are just visiting
We count page views and clicks so we know which pages people read. For each one we keep the page, the link clicked, the kind of site you came from, whether you were on a phone or a computer, and a visitor code. The code changes every day and is built so that it cannot be turned back into your address or identify you. We do not store your IP address for these counts.
The site sets no cookies for visitors, runs no advertising trackers, and does not sell or share visitor data. While the public block is open in a tab, it keeps a temporary session code in that tab; it disappears when you close the tab, and we don't store it.
If you fill in one of our forms
- Get an email when the demo is out (on the home page): your email address, so we can tell you when the demo is ready to play and send the odd big update before then.
- Follow along as it grows (on the public block): your email address, so we can send you news about the game.
- Share feedback (on the public block): your message, and your email if you choose to give it.
- Tell us you're interested (on the page for shop owners): the shop's name and area, your name, your work email, a website or Instagram link, and your note.
We keep what you send so we can read it and reply. Each submission is also emailed to us through our email provider, Resend. To stop repeated sends, the home page sign-up and the two forms on the public block keep a one-way code made from your connection, which cannot be turned back into your IP address. None of these forms stores your IP address.
Services the pages rely on
- Hosting. The site runs on Replit. Like any host, it handles the technical details of each request, such as your IP address and browser, in order to serve and protect the site. See Replit's privacy policy.
- Fonts. The pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google, which receives your IP address. See Google's privacy policy.
If you are a shop working with us
A shop that decides to take part gets a private link to its own page. On it we keep what you enter or send: names, your role, contact details and address you give us, links, the story and details on your card, and any logo or photos. Each thing you send through the private link is kept with the date and time and the IP address it came from. If you authorize the use of your storefront, we also keep a record of that signing: the browser used, and the exact terms and artwork you approved. That record is how both of us can later show what was agreed.
When you save or send something, a notification with its contents is emailed to us through our email provider, Resend.
We use this only to make, review and publish your storefront with your permission and to keep that record. Photos you send are used as reference unless you tell us in writing that a photo may be published.
How long we keep it
Visit counts contain nothing that identifies you and are kept while the site runs. Form submissions are kept while they are useful for replying to you or sending you news; ask us and we will delete yours. Shop materials and signing records are kept while the permission is in effect, and afterwards only as long as reasonably needed for legal, accounting and record-keeping purposes.
Your choices
Email jayzhofen@gmail.com to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, or to stop getting news from us. We will answer within 30 days. A signing record is kept while the permission it records is in effect.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If this changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
